TREX2는 DNA 손상 후 체크포인트 신호전달에 필요한 두 가지 주요 인간 3’–5’ 엑소뉴클레이스 중 하나입니다. 관련 단백질인 TREX1은 ATR 발현에 필요하며, 해당 유전자의 돌연변이는 Aicardi-Goutieres 증후군, chilblain lupus, Cree 뇌염과 관련이 있습니다. TREX2는 모든 조직에서 보편적으로 발현되며, X-ray 결정학 연구 결과 TREX2는 단일가닥 DNA와 복합체를 형성하여 이합체로 결합하고, 이중가닥 DNA를 풀어 활성 부위로 주입하는 역할을 하는 것으로 제안됩니다. TREX2의 두 가지 이상의 isoform이 알려져 있습니다.
