For reconstitution, we recommend adding 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily includes proteins with multiple cystatin-like domains. Some members act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others lack this activity.
There are three main inhibitory families within the superfamily: type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens.
Type 2 cystatins are cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in various human fluids and secretions. The cystatin locus on chromosome 20 contains most type 2 cystatin genes and pseudogenes.
This gene encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor (S-type cystatin), highly expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma. It may have antibacterial and antiviral functions, contributing to protective roles in these fluids.
