This 815CU17 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD68, a 110 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the sialomucin family, related to lysosomal-associated membrane proteins (LAMP) and scavenger receptors. CD68 is mainly localized in late endosomal compartments but can also be detected on the surface of myeloid-derived cells such as monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, neutrophils, basophils, mast cells, and subsets of CD34+ progenitor cells.
The function of CD68 is not fully elucidated, but it may play roles in antigen processing, presentation, and lysosomal membrane protection. CD68 expression is also observed in activated T cells, ~40% of peripheral blood B lymphocytes, and ~50% of B-ALL cases.
This antibody does not cross-react with mouse or rat CD68.
For flow cytometric analysis of human CD68, clone eBioY1/82A is recommended.
Applications Reported: Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (FFPE), and microscopy.
Applications Tested:
- IHC (FFPE): ≤ 5 µg/mL (low or high pH antigen retrieval)
- WB: ≤ 5 µg/mL (reduced PBMC lysate)
Careful titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein primarily expressed in lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent in dendritic cells and granulocytes. It may function in phagocytic activity, lysosomal metabolism, and cell-pathogen interactions. CD68 is expressed in interdigitating reticulum cells, histiocytic lymphomas, histiocytosis, AML, and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated CD68 expression has been observed in CD34+ cells in various malignancies, including AML.
