Target Information
Dectin-2 is a C-type lectin expressed by dendritic cells, macrophages, and inflammatory monocytes. It is a type II membrane receptor with a short cytoplasmic tail and a C-terminal C-type lectin domain. Dectin-2 recognizes high mannose structures and mediates cytokine production from antigen-presenting cells. Although it lacks obvious signaling motifs in its cytoplasmic tail, Dectin-2 utilizes FcRγ for internalization and activation of the NF-κB pathway. Despite sharing only 20–25% homology with Dectin-1, it functions similarly as a pattern recognition receptor (PRR) for fungal infections, activating both innate (Syk-CARD9 pathway) and adaptive immune responses. Thus, Dectin-2 serves as a connector between innate and adaptive immunity at the dendritic cell level.
