Target Information
NOR-1 (NR4A3) is a NR4 nerve growth factor-like receptor involved in neuronal development, T-cell apoptosis, and cancer progression. It binds to NBRE (NGFI-B response element) and regulates the pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) gene. NOR-1 expression is rapidly and transiently induced by various stimuli. Downregulation of NOR-1 and other NGFI-B family members correlates with drug addiction-prone behavior in Lewis rats.
Three human isoforms are known: NOR-1, NOR-1β, and NOR-1 3′ variant.
