Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a small family of proteins which bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two sets of ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) with conserved motifs, RNP1 and RNP2, essential for DNA binding.
RBMS proteins are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis.
RBMS2 was identified through complementation of yeast cdc2 and cdc13 mutants and is believed to suppress these mutants by inducing translation of cdc2.
