Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, beta1 integrin subunit, GPIIa, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed by various cells including all leukocytes.
It forms non-covalently linked heterodimers with multiple alpha chains (α1–α6), determining the binding properties of β1 (VLA) integrins.
ITGB1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule on platelets and is involved in interactions with extracellular matrix proteins.
Decreased ITGB1 expression correlates with multidrug resistance in tumor cells.
It plays a key role in immune cell trafficking, tissue damage regulation, and inflammatory responses such as in inflammatory bowel disease.
Two major isoforms exist: β1A (ubiquitous) and β1D (specific to cardiac and skeletal muscle).
