Human echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like (EML1)은 Usher syndrome type 1A 유전자의 강력한 후보로 알려져 있습니다.
Usher syndrome(USH)은 선천성 청각 장애, 망막색소변성(retinitis pigmentosa), 전정 기능 이상 등을 특징으로 하는 유전 질환군으로, 유전형에 따라 발병 시기와 중증도가 다양합니다.
USH는 다음 세 가지 유형으로 분류됩니다:
- Type I: USH1A, USH1B, USH1C, USH1D, USH1E, USH1F (가장 심한 형태)
- Type II: USH2A, USH2B
- Type III: USH3
이 질환은 청각 및 시각 시스템뿐 아니라 뇌 전체에 영향을 미치며, 관련 유전자 좌위는 모두 지도화되어 있습니다.
