TIMP1 (metalloproteinase inhibitor 1)은 금속단백분해효소 억제 단백질로, 콜라게나아제 등의 표적 금속단백분해효소와 1:1 복합체를 형성하여 이들의 촉매 아연 보조인자에 결합함으로써 비가역적으로 불활성화시킵니다.
TIMP1은 MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, MMP7, MMP8, MMP9, MMP10, MMP11, MMP12, MMP14, MMP16에 작용하며, 세포 분화, 이동, 사멸을 조절하는 성장인자로서의 기능도 수행합니다. 또한 CD63 및 ITGB1을 통해 세포 신호전달 경로를 활성화합니다.
