Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised. It is a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and functions to ensure genomic integrity under genotoxic stress. Inhibition of CHK1 can lead to mitotic catastrophe in p53-deficient cancer cells, making CHK1 an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, as approximately 50% of human cancers lack functional p53.
