Western blot detects a band of approximately 65 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 51 kDa).

Target Information

This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The hnRNP K protein has three KH domains that bind RNA and shows a strong affinity for poly(C). It may also play a role in cell cycle progression. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all are fully characterized.
