Target Information
ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5)는 자가포식(autophagy) 과정에서 핵심적인 역할을 하는 단백질로, 세포자멸사(apoptosis) 과정에도 관여합니다. 또한 산화적 손상 후 미토콘드리아 품질 관리, 선천적 항바이러스 면역 반응의 음성 조절, 림프구 발달 및 증식, MHC II 항원 제시, 지방세포 분화 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여합니다.
ATG12와의 결합을 통해 오토파고좀 형성에 참여하며, FADD 단백질과 상호작용하여 자가포식성 세포사멸을 유도합니다. 또한 RIG-I 및 VISA(IPS-1)와 같은 선천면역 단백질과 결합하여 type I 인터페론 생성을 억제하고 바이러스 복제를 촉진할 수 있습니다.
ATG5 기능 이상은 척수소뇌실조증(spinocerebellar ataxia) 등 질환과 관련이 있습니다.
