Target Information
P2Y1 is a purinergic receptor that induces platelet shape change and aggregation by binding ADP, leading to mobilization of intracellular calcium ions through activation of phospholipase C. It also mediates nitric oxide release and may modulate neuronal signal transmission. P2Y1 is expressed in various tissues, particularly in the brain. ESTs have been isolated from human embryo, lung, and placenta libraries.
