Target Information
APOL1 is a secreted high-density lipoprotein that binds to apolipoprotein A-I, a major plasma protein of HDL. It plays a key role in cholesterol ester formation, cholesterol efflux from cells, and lipid transport throughout the body. This apolipoprotein L family member may also contribute to reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver.
