Target Information
This gene belongs to the beta casein family. Beta casein, together with kappa casein, is secreted in human milk and serves as a major source of essential amino acids for infants. These proteins form spherical micelles that bind dietary minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
