Target Information
Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR)는 세포질 외막에서 미토콘드리아 내막으로의 콜레스테롤 수송에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 37 kDa 전구체 단백질은 활성형 28 kDa 단백질로 절단되어 콜레스테롤을 프레그넬론으로 대사시키는 과정을 촉진합니다. StAR은 부신 및 생식선의 스테로이드 생성 세포의 미토콘드리아에 주로 발현됩니다. StAR 유전자 발현 이상은 선천성 지방형 부신피질 형성부전(Lipoid Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, LCAH)과 관련되어 있으며, 프레그넬론 및 코르티솔 합성에 결함을 초래합니다. 콜레스테롤이 StAR에 결합하는 정확한 메커니즘은 아직 완전히 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
