Product Specific Information
Mouse IFN-gamma is a regulatory protein produced by activated NK cells and CD4+TCRαβ, CD8+TCRαβ, and TCRγλ T cells.
The biological activities of IFN-gamma include specific binding to a single class of high-affinity receptors.
Recombinant mouse IFN-gamma is a 15.6 kDa protein containing 134 amino acid residues.
Purity: >95%.
Molecular Weight: 15.6 kDa.
Target Information
IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, Staphylococcus enterotoxin B, phytohemagglutinin, and other cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein consisting of two 146 amino acid subunits, forming a functional homodimer of approximately 45 kDa.
On SDS-PAGE, IFN gamma appears as bands of 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa due to differential glycosylation.
The biological activity of IFN gamma is highly species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse IFN gamma.
Functions include:
- Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
- Induction of class I and II MHC expression
- Macrophage activation
- Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes
- Cytokine regulation and synergistic action with other cytokines
Activation occurs via IFN gamma receptor I and II, triggering the JAK-STAT pathway.
Human IFN gamma shares approximately 40% sequence homology with mouse IFN gamma.
Regulation: Upregulated by IL-2, FGF basic, and EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
