Target Information
CD79a is a disulfide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It forms part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, which associates with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, essential for B-cell receptor expression and function. CD79a expression begins at the pre-B cell stage and continues to the plasma cell stage, where it is found intracellularly. It is expressed in most precursor B-cell leukemias, B-cell lines, B-cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but not in myeloid or T-cell lines.
Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Non-Bruton type Agammaglobulinemia.
