SP3 유전자는 Sp1 관련 전사 인자군에 속하며, GC- 및 GT-box 조절 요소에 결합하여 전사 조절을 수행합니다. 이 단백질은 zinc finger DNA 결합 도메인과 여러 전사 활성화 도메인을 포함합니다. 다양한 isoform이 보고되었으며, 일부는 비표준 개시 코돈(AUA)에서 번역이 시작됩니다. 또한 염색체 13에 관련된 유사 유전자가 존재합니다.
