Target Information
The MYT1 protein is a neural-specific, zinc finger-containing DNA-binding kinase that phosphorylates and inactivates CDC2, thereby regulating the G2/M transition of the cell cycle. It remains membrane-associated throughout the cycle and is regulated by kinases such as AKT1/PKB and PLK. MYT1 binds promoter regions of proteolipid proteins in the central nervous system and plays a key role in neural development. Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms have been identified.
