Target Information
Beta-3 Adrenergic Receptor (ADRB3) is primarily expressed in adipose tissue and plays a key role in regulating lipolysis and thermogenesis. Beta adrenergic receptors mediate epinephrine and norepinephrine-induced activation of adenylate cyclase through G proteins. ADRB3 expression is observed in adipose tissues, heart, and smooth muscle of digestive and urinary tract organs such as bladder, colon, small intestine, stomach, and ureter. Alternate promoters and/or 3′ untranslated regions may contribute to tissue-specific expression regulation.
