Target Information
The Ras-related superfamily of guanine nucleotide binding proteins, including R-Ras, Rap, Ral/Rec, and Rho/Rab subfamilies, exhibit 30–60% homology with Ras p21. Rab proteins play key roles in endocytosis and biosynthetic protein transport, mediating the movement of carrier vesicles between the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, and secretory vesicles. Evidence suggests Rab proteins may also regulate exocytosis, as shown by yeast SEC4 protein, which shares 40% homology with Rab proteins and associates with secretory vesicles.
