Target Information
The Ras oncogene family encodes proteins involved in signal transduction pathways. These proteins bind GTP and GDP and possess intrinsic GTPase activity. They cycle between the plasma membrane and Golgi apparatus, regulated by palmitoylation. Mutations in these genes can lead to Costello syndrome and are associated with various cancers such as bladder, thyroid, and oral squamous cell carcinoma. Multiple transcript variants exist, encoding different isoforms.
