Target Information
Prokineticin-2 (PK2) is a cysteine-rich secreted protein expressed in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) with receptors located in autonomic control centers of the brain. It depolarizes neurons expressing the receptor and is predominantly controlled by the circadian clock, with light also playing a modulatory role. PK2 acts as a critical SCN output molecule responsible for circadian locomotor rhythms and functions as a chemoattractant for subventricular zone-derived neuronal progenitors.
