Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also referred to as ULIP6) are neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 has relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated levels of autoantibody to CRMP5 are linked to paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic neoplasms.
Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (predominantly targeting the N-terminal epitopes) is also being studied as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
