The monoclonal antibody BV12 recognizes junctional adhesion molecule-A (JAM-A), also known as JAM-1 and the mouse platelet F11-Receptor (F11R). JAM-A is a cell adhesion molecule (CAM) involved in cell-cell contact and junctional integrity.
Target Information
CD321 (F11R, JAM-1, JAM-A) is a cell-surface adhesion molecule belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily.
It is a 32–41 kDa glycoprotein containing two extracellular Ig-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a short cytosolic tail.
CD321 forms homodimers at the membrane and associates with other membrane proteins such as integrins.
CD321 is expressed on various cell types including:
- Leukocytes
- Platelets
- Erythrocytes
- Stem cells
- Epithelial and endothelial cells
It plays key roles in:
- Mediating cell-cell contact
- Maintaining epithelial and endothelial barriers
