This antibody detects the p35 subunit either as part of a p40/p35 heterodimer or as a free subunit after reduction of the heterodimer.
It does not recognize IL-12 p40 homodimers but shows strong cross-reactivity with p35 subunits from porcine and mouse systems.
Target Information
Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 protein superfamily.
The IL-12A alpha chain precursor (p35) forms a 35 kDa subunit of the disulfide-linked heterodimeric cytokine IL-12, which exhibits diverse biological activities:
- Acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells
- Enhances NK/lymphokine-activated killer cell activity
- Stimulates IFN-γ production in PBMCs
- Promotes differentiation of Th1 and Th2 cells
- Regulates tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat4 protein
- Involved in innate immune signaling requiring nitric oxide synthase 2A
- Forms interleukin-35 (IL-35) with EBI3, contributing to Treg-mediated suppression
