Target Information
The RFX1 gene belongs to the regulatory factor X gene family, encoding transcription factors with a conserved winged helix DNA-binding domain. RFX1 acts as a transcriptional activator that binds DNA as a monomer or heterodimer with RFX2, RFX3, and RFX5, but not with RFX4. It binds to X-boxes of MHC class II genes, essential for their expression, and also interacts with inverted repeats necessary for hepatitis B virus gene expression.
