This antibody detects endogenous levels of total SCN4B.
Target Information
The SCN4B protein modulates channel gating kinetics, causing negative shifts in the voltage dependence of activation of certain alpha sodium channels without affecting inactivation. It is highly expressed in dorsal root ganglia and at lower levels in brain, spinal cord, skeletal muscle, and heart.
Defects in SCN4B are associated with long QT syndrome type 10 (LQT10) [MIM:611819], a heart disorder characterized by prolonged QT intervals and polymorphic ventricular arrhythmias, which may lead to syncope or sudden death during stress or exercise.
