Target Information
IFI-44 (interferon-induced protein 44), also known as p44 or MTAP44, is a 444 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that forms microtubular structures upon induction by IFN-betas.
Human IFI-44 shares 97% sequence similarity with chimpanzee IFI-44, suggesting a conserved role across species.
The gene encoding IFI-44 is located on human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs and contains over 3,000 genes, including many associated with diseases such as familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia, and Usher syndrome.
