Target Information
Machado-Joseph disease(MJD)는 상염색체 우성 신경학적 질환으로, spinocerebellar ataxia-3와 동일한 질환입니다.
MJD 단백질(Ataxin-3)은 코딩 영역에 (CAG)n 반복 서열을 포함하며, 이 반복이 정상(13–36)에서 68–79로 확장될 경우 질환이 발생합니다.
CAG 반복 수와 발병 연령은 음의 상관관계를 보입니다.
Ataxin-3은 전사 조절 인자(CBP, p300, PCAF)와 상호작용하며 전사를 억제하고, 히스톤 결합 단백질로서 전사 조절 기능을 수행합니다.
또한 MJD는 탈유비퀴틴화 효소로 작용합니다.
