Target Information
DUSP13, a novel dual-specificity phosphatase (DSP), belongs to the highly conserved protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. Members of this family cooperate with protein kinases and play critical roles in cell cycle regulation. DUSP13 contains a conserved catalytic domain and is specifically expressed in testis and skeletal muscle. Based on mRNA localization and expression studies, DUSP13 is suggested to exist in three isoforms due to alternative splicing. Reports indicate that DUSP13 may be involved in regulating meiosis and differentiation of testicular germ cells during spermatogenesis.
