Target Information
C-Jun N-terminal Kinase (JNK), also known as Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase 8 (MAPK8), belongs to the MAPK superfamily of stress-activated protein kinases. These serine/threonine kinases are activated by various extracellular stimuli and mediate signal transduction from the cell surface to the nucleus. JNK regulates numerous cellular processes including proliferation, differentiation, transcription, and development. The JNK pathway is activated by stress and inflammatory signals, and JNK exists in ten isoforms due to differential mRNA splicing, with JNK1 and JNK2 being predominant.
