Target Information
ORM1 (alpha1-acid glycoprotein) is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver.
It is believed to regulate interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells, and, together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, modulates cell extravasation during infection and inflammation.
ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant in both humans and rats. In human plasma, ORM1 (44 kDa) is found at levels of 0.5–1.4 mg/mL.
Its concentration increases during acute inflammation such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, after major surgery, and chronic pain, making it useful for studying inflammatory conditions.
