Target Information
This gene encodes a neuropeptide widely expressed in the central nervous system. It influences physiological processes including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function.
The neuropeptide acts through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate MAP kinase, regulate intracellular calcium, and activate potassium channels.
