P504S/AMACR/a-Methylacyl-CoA Racemase는 가지사슬 지방산의 β-산화 과정에서 필수 효소입니다.
면역조직화학 염색 결과, 파라핀 포매된 조직에서 P504S 단백질은 전립선 선암(prostatic adenocarcinoma)에서 높은 발현을 보이며, 양성 전립선 조직에서는 발현되지 않습니다. 또한, 전립선의 두 가지 전암 병변인 고등급 전립선 상피내 신생물(high-grade PIN)과 비정형 선상 과형성(atypical adenomatous hyperplasia)에서도 발현이 관찰됩니다.
