Target Information
CNOT3 is a component of the CCR4-NOT complex, one of the major cellular mRNA deadenylases. It is associated with various cellular processes including bulk mRNA degradation, miRNA-mediated repression, translational repression during initiation, and general transcription regulation.
It may also influence mRNA expression and be involved in metabolic regulation and recruitment of the CCR4-NOT complex to deadenylation target mRNAs related to energy metabolism.
CNOT3 participates in mitotic progression and regulation of the spindle assembly checkpoint by stabilizing MAD1L1 mRNA. It can repress transcription and may link the CCR4-NOT complex to transcriptional regulation, potentially involving histone deacetylases.
Additionally, it plays a role in maintaining embryonic stem (ES) cell identity.
