Target Information
O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT) is a DNA repair protein that contributes to tumor cell resistance against alkylating chemotherapeutic agents. It protects normal cells from genotoxic and carcinogenic effects caused by DNA alkylation. MGMT removes alkyl groups from the O6 position of guanine and shows variable expression depending on cell type, tissue, species, and growth conditions. Its activity differs among tumor types and within the same tumor.
