Mitochondrial inner membrane calcium uniporter (MCU)는 미토콘드리아 내 칼슘 흡수를 매개하는 단백질로, 유니포터 복합체의 칼슘 통로 형성 단위입니다. MICU1 및 MICU2에 의해 활성 조절을 받으며, 세포 생리학, 에너지 대사, 세포사멸 경로 활성화 등 다양한 생리적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 심근세포의 칼슘 항상성, 췌장 베타세포의 인슐린 분비, 골격근 세포의 크기 조절, 시냅스 소포 엔도사이토시스 조절 등 다양한 생리 기능에 관여합니다.
