Target Information
TRAIL-R1 (CD261, DR4) is a type I transmembrane protein, also known as TRAIL receptor 1. The ligand for this DR4 death receptor, TRAIL, belongs to the TNF family. DR4, like other receptors such as Fas and TNFR1, mediates apoptosis and NF-κB activation in various cells and tissues. Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is a key process in normal cellular differentiation and development of multicellular organisms. It is induced by interactions between cytokines of the TNF family (e.g., TNF, Fas ligand) and their death domain-containing receptors (e.g., TNFR1, Fas receptor).
