Target Information
CDK5 is a member of the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase family that is most abundant in the mammalian brain. The active form, also known as neuronal cdc2-like kinase, forms a heterodimer with a 25 kDa protein derived from a 35 kDa neuron-specific protein, essential for kinase activity. CDK5 plays a crucial role in neuronal migration during central nervous system development and phosphorylates various substrates involved in adhesion, motility, synaptic plasticity, and drug addiction.
