Target Information
The GLP2 receptor (GLP2R) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, closely related to the glucagon receptor and GLP1 receptor.
Glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2) is a 33-amino acid peptide derived from proglucagon, produced by intestinal enteroendocrine cells.
GLP2 stimulates intestinal growth, increases villus height, promotes crypt cell proliferation, and reduces enterocyte apoptosis.
Additionally, GLP2 prevents intestinal hypoplasia associated with total parenteral nutrition.
GLP2R is primarily expressed in the gut and shares structural similarity with glucagon receptor (GCGR) and GLP1 receptor (GLP1R).
