Target Information
This gene encodes a dynein protein that is part of a microtubule-associated motor protein complex consisting of heavy, light, and intermediate chains.
The protein functions as an axonemal heavy chain dynein with ATPase activity, where ADP release produces the force-generating power stroke.
Mutations in this gene cause primary ciliary dyskinesia type 3 and Kartagener syndrome, both associated with ciliary defects.
