Product Specific Information

The HIT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD38 molecule, an approximately 45 kDa type II transmembrane protein. CD38 is expressed by thymocytes, peripheral B cells including plasma cells, activated T cells, and monocytes. It acts as a counter-receptor for CD31 and has cyclase and hydrolase enzymatic activity.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for use at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that stains a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Laser: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD38 (NAD+ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein involved in activation, proliferation, and differentiation of lymphocytes, as well as apoptosis of progenitor cells. It functions as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, NAD+ glycohydrolase) and serves as a receptor.

Antibodies to CD38 are valuable for:

• Subtyping lymphomas and leukemias
• Detecting plasma cells (e.g., myeloma identification)
• Marking activated B and T cells

CD38 is expressed in pancreas, liver, kidney, malignant lymphoma, and neuroblastoma.
Diseases associated with CD38 dysfunction include chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter’s Syndrome.
