PA3-913 detects transferrin from human and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in Western Blot and ICC/IF procedures.
The immunogen is human transferrin isolated from plasma.

Target Information

Transferrins (Tf) are approximately 80 kDa blood plasma glycoproteins synthesized by the liver.
They are iron-binding transport proteins capable of binding two Fe(3+) ions with an accompanying anion, usually bicarbonate.
Transferrin is responsible for transporting iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization.
Under normal conditions, about one-third of total blood transferrin contains bound iron.
Measurement of blood transferrin levels can indicate iron-carrying capacity and abnormalities such as anaemia, iron overload, and haemochromatosis.
Serum transferrin may also play a role in stimulating cell proliferation.
