Target Information
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels are a diverse class of ion channels that regulate various physiological processes such as neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume.
The KCND3 gene encodes a member of the voltage-gated, shal-related potassium channel subfamily, which forms voltage-activated A-type potassium ion channels involved in the repolarization phase of the action potential.
This gene produces two isoforms via alternative splicing.
