Target Information

DAPK3 (Death-associated protein kinase 3) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in cell motility, smooth muscle contractility, and cell death processes. It is encoded by the ZIPK gene and functions as a component of desmosomes and the epidermal cornified envelope in keratinocytes.
The N-terminal domain interacts with the plasma membrane, while the C-terminus associates with intermediate filaments. Through its rod domain, DAPK3 forms complexes with envoplakin, linking the cornified envelope, desmosomes, and intermediate filaments.
AKT1/PKB, a kinase involved in cell growth and survival signaling, interacts with DAPK3, suggesting its role as a localization signal in AKT1-mediated pathways.
