This antibody detects endogenous levels of total MAP4K3 protein.

Target Information

MAP4K3 (also known as GLK) is a member of the STE20 family of serine/threonine protein kinases. It contains an N-terminal catalytic domain and a C-terminal regulatory domain. MAP4K3 functions upstream of MEKK1 and is activated by UV radiation and TNF-alpha, leading to activation of the JNK signaling pathway. It can directly activate PKC-T during TCR signaling. Elevated MAP4K3 expression and PKC-T activation have been observed in T cells from individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus. MAP4K3 can act as a pro-apoptotic kinase by promoting activation of BAX through posttranscriptional modulation of PUMA, BAD, and BIM. The kinase activity can be stimulated by UV radiation and TNF-alpha, specifically activating the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway. It functions upstream of MEKK1 and was formerly known as RAB8-interacting protein-like 1 (RAB8IPL1).
