This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, followed by screening for optimal clones.

This antibody has specificity for Human M-CSF/CSF-1.

Target Information

M-CSF (Macrophage colony-stimulating factor, CSF-1) is a survival factor essential for the proliferation and development of monocytes, macrophages, and osteoclast progenitor cells. It also induces VEGF secretion by macrophages, promoting endothelial progenitor mobilization and neovascularization.

M-CSF exists as several bioactive isoforms differing in potency and stability. The full-length protein is membrane-bound and can be cleaved into secreted forms. It functions as a disulfide-bonded homodimer, existing as either a glycoprotein or proteoglycan modified by chondroitin sulfate.

Binding of M-CSF to its receptor c-Fms (CSF-1R or CD115) induces receptor dimerization, internalization, and degradation. Functionally, M-CSF stimulates differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into monocyte-macrophage lineages in culture. It acts through CSF receptor 1. While human M-CSF is active on mouse cells, mouse CSF does not act on human cells.
