Product Specific Information
The RM4-4 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and plays an important role in T cell development and function. In T cells, CD4 associates with the protein tyrosine kinase lck through its cytoplasmic tail. Binding of RM4-4 does not block binding of CD4 antibodies RM4-5 or GK1.5.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes; ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize titration for best results.
Fluorochrome Information:
PE-eFluor 610 can be excited with 488–561 nm lasers and emits at 607 nm. Use a 610/20 band pass filter (equivalent to PE-Texas Red). Ensure compatibility with your instrument.
Light Sensitivity:
This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect vial and stained samples from light.

Target Information
CD4 is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and functions as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed on T helper cells but also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. It aids T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
